Photo Contest Rules

“PHOTOGRAPH PLOGGING AND WIN THE CONTEST”


Art. 1 - Object and purpose

The activity aims to generate interest and raise awareness among citizens about the need to spread the culture of respect for the environment, including through sports.


Art. 2 - Participants

The contest is open to all adults.


Art. 3 - Request to participants

Participants will be asked to take a photo that highlights the values underlying the contest's objectives (art. 1), and therefore conveys an experience, a feeling, or a memory.

The aim is to collect citizens' testimonies and their personal vision of the topic.


Art. 4 - Participation methods

Only unpublished photographic works will be admitted to the Contest. The content of the works must correspond exclusively to the purpose set out in Article 3. To participate in the Contest, authors must submit their photographs no later than August 5, 2022, using the appropriate submission form at the bottom of the page. The photograph must have the following characteristics:

  • Accepted formats: jpeg
  • Resolution: at least 150 dpi
  • Photographs with logos, signatures, watermarks, or any other identifiable signs will not be accepted, under penalty of exclusion.

    Appearances of products or services that could be traced back to the practice of product placement will not be permitted.

    Violent, discriminatory, defamatory, obscene, racist, or sexual content will not be permitted. Participation in the contest is free.

    Each participant is permitted to participate with only one photograph.


    Art. 5 - Voting and validation methods

    Photographs submitted by the deadline will be pre-selected. The organizer will establish a selection committee—composed of industry experts—who will verify the absence of exclusion grounds and will select the competition's finalists and exclude any works that do not meet the requirements of the Regulations. The committee will select the photos according to the following criteria (max 50 points):

  • correspondence of the photograph to the theme of the contest (Max 10 points);
  • coherence and completeness of the required elements: title, caption, photo (Max 25 points);
  • Originality and quality of the photograph (Max 15 points). The selection committee, at its sole discretion, will select a maximum of 20 photos, which will be uploaded online to a dedicated voting platform. The results of the pre-selection will be communicated via email exclusively to the authors of the photos selected for online voting. The lists containing the results of the selection committee's evaluation will not be published. Online voting will be open to all internet users who access the website https://www.gruppoarb.com/FOTOGRAFA-IL-PLOGGING-E-VINCI-IL-CONTEST. Each user will be able to express only one preference. The publication of the photographs on the institutional website will be promoted through social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter). For the purposes of the award ceremony, only the votes and preferences received on the institutional website in the section dedicated to the contest will be considered valid. A specific communication will be given regarding the voting period.

  • Art. 6 - Awards and prizes

    At the end of the voting, the results will be published on the website www.gruppoarb.com and communicated to the winners via the email address provided by the participants. The three photographs with the most votes will be awarded by the popular jury. All photographs will be collected in a dedicated publication. The prizes up for grabs are:

    First Place: Voucher for participation in the photography seminar to be held this fall, led by Maestro Mimmo Irrera. (Value €300)


    SECOND PLACE: €100 voucher to be used at the Mondadori Bookstore (Messina)


    THIRD PLACE: €50 voucher to be used at DE CAR AUTORICAMBI


    The Selection Committee may award special mentions or prizes at its sole discretion. The prizes consist of shopping vouchers of the value indicated above to be used at a retailer selected by the organizer and communicated after the winners are announced. The awards ceremony will take place by August 2022, in person or online, in compliance with the provisions for preventing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.


    Art. 7 - Incompatibility of participants

    All persons having direct ties to the organization promoting the Contest are excluded from participation.


    Art. 8 - Rights

    Each author is personally responsible for the works submitted and formally declares, by participating in the Contest, that they have obtained the necessary authorization for photographs containing people and/or objects for which specific consent is required, pursuant to the Copyright Act (Law 633/1941), EU Regulation No. 679/2016, and Legislative Decree No. 196 of June 30, 2003, as amended. Participants in the contest guarantee that the submitted content does not contain any material that is illegal, prohibited by law, or contrary to the provisions of these Regulations. They also declare that they are aware that all liability, including criminal liability, for the content of the creative proposals submitted, for the purpose of participating in the initiative governed by these Regulations, rests solely and exclusively with them. They hereby indemnify the organizers from any claims by third parties, who, therefore, will not be liable in any way for any compensation requests made by individuals depicted in the photographs or videos submitted.


    Art. 9 - Visibility of the works and use of the acquired materials

    The organizer, as the promoter of the Contest, reserves the right to permanently use and publish the submitted works free of charge, citing the authors' names. The materials may be used for non-commercial promotional purposes without further consent from the author, who also declares, by accepting the terms of participation contained in these Regulations, that he or she is the owner of the images, thus releasing the organizer from any liability to third parties. The images may be used to create communication products (videos, publications, multimedia products). The use of the author's name and images is considered free of charge. The use of the aforementioned images in contexts that undermine the personal dignity and decorum of the subject depicted is also prohibited.


    Art. 10 - Acceptance of the Regulations

  • By participating in the “PHOTOGRAPH PLOGGING AND WIN THE CONTEST” competition, the participant:
  • declares full and complete knowledge and acceptance of the Regulations;
  • declares that the contents and photographs submitted are original, their property and that they do not violate copyright according to current legislation;
  • declares that the use of the images is free of charge;
  • grants authorization to the processing of personal data (pursuant to Legislative Decree 196/03 and former EU Regulation 2016/679);
  • grants permission to use the photos submitted (pursuant to Legislative Decree 196/03, former EU Regulation 679/2016, former Law 633/1941) within the scope of the communication activities envisaged by the Organizer.
  • grants permission to use any video or photographic images (pursuant to Legislative Decree 196/03, EU Regulation 679/2016, and Law 633/41) that may be taken during the awards ceremony, which will take place online or in person in compliance with the provisions for preventing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. Any violation of the established participation rules will result in the exclusion of the proposal.

  • Art. 11 - Request for clarification

    For information and clarifications, please email asd.arb.messina@gmail.com. PRIVACY POLICY (pursuant to Legislative Decree 196/03 and EU Regulation 2016/679) as part of the communication activities outlined in the organizer's Communication Plan. Pursuant to and for the purposes of Legislative Decree 196/03 and EU Regulation 2016/679 (hereinafter, GDPR), the organizer, as the "Data Controller," is required to provide certain information regarding the methods and purposes of processing personal data, including sensitive data, of which it may possess. Source of personal data and legal basis for processing. The personal data held by the organizer are provided directly by participants in the "PHOTOGRAPH PLOGGING AND WIN THE CONTEST" awareness-raising campaign.

    All data collected will be processed in compliance with applicable data protection legislation and the confidentiality standards inherent in the performance of the activity in question. Purpose of processing Personal data will be processed by the organizer for the following purposes: Institutional and promotional activities. The provision by the interested party of the data necessary to achieve the purposes set out in the previous point is essential and indispensable for the correct and efficient management of the relationship related to this competition, as well as for the fulfillment of legal obligations. Therefore, any refusal to provide such data would make it impossible to carry out the aforementioned activities. If the organizer intends to use the personal data collected for any other purpose incompatible with the purposes for which the personal data was originally collected or authorized, it must inform the interested party in advance and obtain their consent. Data Processing Methods. In relation to the above-mentioned purposes, personal data is processed in full compliance with the principles of fairness, lawfulness, and transparency, using manual, computerized, and electronic tools to store, manage, and transmit the data, solely for the purposes for which it was collected and, in any case, in a manner that guarantees its security and confidentiality. In carrying out its processing activities, the organizer undertakes to:

    a) ensure the accuracy and updating of the processed data and promptly implement any corrections and/or additions requested by the data subject; b) notify the data subject, within the timeframes and in the circumstances established by law, of any breaches of their personal data; c) ensure the compliance of the processing operations with applicable legal provisions. Categories of subjects to whom the data may be disclosed: The personal data provided will be disseminated through their availability or simple consultation on the organizer's website and social media channels. Personal data retention policy: The organizer stores the acquired personal data in its IT systems in a form that allows the identification of data subjects for a period of time no longer than is necessary to achieve the purposes for which they are processed or to comply with specific regulatory and contractual obligations.

    Data Subject Rights Pursuant to Articles 15-22 of the GDPR, the data subject may exercise specific rights by contacting the Data Controller, including: a) Right of access: the right to obtain from the Data Controller confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning him or her are being processed, and, where that is the case, access to the personal data and further information regarding their source, purpose, category of data processed, recipients of disclosure and/or transfer, etc. b) Right to rectification: the right to obtain from the Data Controller without undue delay the rectification of inaccurate personal data, as well as the completion of incomplete personal data, including by means of providing a supplementary statement. c) Right to erasure: the right to obtain from the Data Controller the erasure of personal data without undue delay in the event that: 1. the personal data are no longer necessary in relation to the purposes of the processing; 2. the consent on which the processing is based is withdrawn and there is no other legal basis for the processing; 3. the personal data have been unlawfully processed; 4. Personal data must be erased to comply with a legal obligation. d) Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: A data subject who believes that the processing of their personal data violates applicable data protection law has the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority of the Member State in which they reside or where the alleged violation occurred.
