POETRY THERAPY course led by an art therapist

Georgia Garibaldi

The course will be held on June 10th from 10am to 6pm

Giorgia Garibaldi is an art therapist specializing in psychophysiology. She specialized in 2009 at the Academy of Health Arts in Rome with a Master's degree from the AEPCIS (Italian Association of Clinical Psychophysiologists). She has been working in cultural, educational, and therapeutic settings for approximately 15 years, and worked in France from 2015 to 2020. Art therapy is a gentle, highly effective, and directly transformative therapy. Through the creative process, the individual achieves an integration that leads to the pleasure of "being in the world and occupying a space," to quote Professor Vezio Ruggieri, "each of us is a unique work of art."

Poetry that heals

We can find poetry in everything we experience. Regardless of whether we have a poetic soul, everyone has written a poem at least once in their life. Reading a poem, which condenses the writer's thoughts, experiences, and emotions, resonates within us with a shared language that leads us to fully experience the same "poetic state." Poetry is imagination, emotion, and at the same time it is body, breath, muscles, vocal cords, chest, legs... it is rhythm and music.

Poetry therapy therefore works on multiple levels, and beyond the cathartic level we all experience without the need for guidance, therapeutic accompaniment is essential to bring about that transformation towards psycho-physical well-being and the resolution of various disorders and discomforts—in other words, to receive "treatment."

Poetry Therapy Workshop:

The intensive Poetry Therapy workshop will take place on Saturday, June 10th, from 10 am to 6 pm at Spazio Lilla for ARB.

“Our history is written in our bodies, we will shape our poetry.”

In art therapy work, it is important to respect subjectivity and always pursue the pleasure of the experience.

During the meeting we will work on:

  • on posture,
  • the breath,
  • the communicative intention,
  • prosody
  • emotions.
  • Other artistic mediators will accompany us, music and drawing, and we will also draw inspiration from some great poets.

The workshop is for adults, open to everyone, not just artists or professionals in the helping relationship sector. No special skills are required, just a desire to feel good and get involved.
